Each massage style has its own unique benefits, but overall, massage helps relax the body and mind, improve blood flow, regulate the nervous system, increase muscle flexibility and decrease muscular and joint pain.
-
Common side effects that can occur for up to 48 hrs after any massage treatment include: aching and/or discomfort, lethargy, redness of the skin, bruising (more typical of deep tissue and sports massage) and nausea. Flu-like symptoms such as headaches, swollen lymph nodes, fever etc. are more common with Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage, as toxins are being released from your body through the lymph system.

We massage clients with various skin conditions. However, we typically avoid treating areas of skin with either of the following: Eczema, Dermatitis, Acne, Boils, Hives, Thin skin, Blisters. The following skin conditions are totally contraindicated for massage, meaning we are unable to provide our services to anyone with either of these conditions: Open sores, Cuts/Abrasions/Broken skin, Cold sores, Warts, Contagious infections (e.g. Ringworm, Scabies, Meningitis), Bleeding Pimples or Cysts, Unhealed Burns, Varicose veins, Impetigo.

As the UK law states that only midwives and doctors (including those training under supervision) can take sole responsibility for child-bearing women outside of an emergency, all pregnant clients must provide written consent from their GP and/or midwife prior to attending, or on the day of their appointment. This can be in the form of a physical letter, NHS/other medical app message, or an email. This should either be emailed to us or shown to your therapist on the day of your appointment. Failure to provide this consent by the appointment date will result in your appointment being cancelled and you will lose any monies you paid upon booking. To avoid this happening, if you have not yet received confirmation from your GP or midwife by 24 hours before your appointment and do not think it will be ready in time, please let us know and we can re-schedule your booking for a later date. If booking this treatment as a gift for somebody, please still ensure that you or they either send us the letter/message of consent before the appointment, or show it to us on the day.
-
You can cancel your booking any time up to 24 hours before the appointment and receive a full refund. However, if you cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment, you will lose your 50% deposit. If you already paid in full, we will refund 50% of your treatment cost. We understand that things happen which are out of our control, so if you do cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment, we encourage you to reschedule instead, to avoid losing your money. You are more than welcome to give your appointment to someone else, but please notify us of this change asap so we can ensure accurate client information on our system.
-
Whilst you can eat and drink before your treatment, we recommend not eating anything heavy beforehand and to just eat a light meal 1-2 hours before your massage. This is to ensure your system has digested everything before your treatment. Please do not drink alcohol before your treatment - your appointment may be cancelled/rescheduled if you do so.

We do massage cancer patients, but would advise against Deep Tissue and Sports Massage, so as to not cause any aggravation or pain. We instead recommend our Classic/Swedish massage treatment. Currently, we are unable to offer Manual Lymphatic Drainage to active cancer patients/those with malignant melanomas or undiagnosed lumps.
-
You can ask your therapist to stop at any moment during treatment, for whatever reason. Whether you need a toilet break, to readjust yourself or simply just need a break, your therapist will resume your treatment when you are ready. Please note that the appointment time will not be extended for these reasons, but we are always willing to be flexible where possible. If you wish to stop the treatment altogether, you may also do so. No explanation needed.

We have bottled water available for our clients to take at any point! Hydration is key, especially after a massage treatment. If you are diabetic, please remember to bring an emergency source of sugar (i.e. snacks, juice or glucose tablets), as being massaged could cause your blood sugar to drop. We may have something on hand for you at the time should this happen, but cannot guarantee it.
-
Please let us know if you are going to be more than 10 minutes late, as we may have to reschedule your appointment.

Due to the increase of blood volume in a pregnant woman’s body, there is risk of suppressing the circulatory system and/or dislodging a blood clot. For this reason, deep tissue massage is contraindicated for those who are pregnant and we will not perform any deep tissue techniques on such clients.
