Classic Massage

Classic Massage (commonly known as ‘Swedish Massage’) is our go-to treatment for ultimate relaxation - perfect for anybody looking to de-stress and unwind. It involves slow and steady gliding motions over the body, as well as rhythmic kneading motions at light to medium pressure. These techniques, known as ‘effleurage’ and ‘petrissage’ help relax the body and gently release myofascial tissues. Additional benefits of this treatment include promotion of healthy blood circulation, improved sleep, boosting of the immune system and mental relaxation. If you’re in need of some ‘me-time’ that allows you to destress and unwind, this one is for you!

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage uses the same effleurage and petrissage techniques as Classic Massage, but with deeper pressure to help alleviate areas of tension in the muscles. Despite the pressure, this treatment is not painful, but rather provides a feeling of relief as your therapist works to break down the restrictions that are causing you discomfort! This treatment helps reduce muscular aches and pains, and improve flexibility of the muscles for better movement. If your muscles feel tight, achey, or as some would describe ‘knotty’, deep tissue massage is your best friend!

Sports Massage

Sports massage is a specialised massage therapy, designed to manage pain, improve range of motion, prevent and treat injuries and help improve alignment. A standard ‘ Maintenance’ massage typically involves a lot of deep tissue work, alongside passive stretching. Techniques such as Trigger Point Therapy, Soft Tissue Release, MET Therapy, PRT, Connective Tissue Therapy and Transverse Frictions are used to help release restricted areas. Often, we see clients for sports massage on a reoccurring basis to achieve optimal results. However, some improvement can be made in one booking. Sports massage can be beneficial for all, but particularly for those with muscular or joint pain or stiffness, which can be due to a range of reasons including overuse/injury, poor posture, or remaining in strained positions for long periods of time (e.g. hunched over at work). We also have a ‘pre-event’ sports massage, which differs from the ‘maintenance massage’ described above and is a 20-30 minute treatment. Carried out anywhere between 2 days to 30 minutes before a sporting event or exercise, it enhances performance in physical activity through warming and relaxing the muscles, and promoting mental clarity. Quick effleurage and petrissage motions are performed, followed by percussive techniques such as beating, cupping and chopping of the hands against the body. If you require this style of sports massage, please select the ‘Pre-Event’ option when booking. Please note that sports massage is not a relaxing massage and can be uncomfortable, but should not be too painful (your therapist will stop/adjust the technique if this is the case).

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a powerful, cleansing treatment that almost anyone can benefit from! As it facilitates the removal of toxins, metabolical waste, excess water, bacteria and foreign substances through the body’s lymph vessels, it is particularly useful for those suffering with oedema and lymphoedema, sinus congestions, digestive disorders, stress and headaches. It can help strengthen the immune system, improve energy, decrease swelling, reduce harmful bacteria or an overgrowth of bacteria in the body, decrease pain and increase cellular oxygenation. It also relaxes the nervous system. In the west, many people have sluggish lymphatic systems due to the intake of highly processed foods. Lack of water intake also contributes to this. Some signs that your body is in need of lymphatic drainage include puffy armpits (a healthy armpit should have a dip/pit), puffy face, dry and itchy skin, lethargy, swelling in the hands/feet or legs, constipation, sinusitis, infections and swollen lymph nodes. With light as a feather application, this treatment is our most unique service in which many clients end up falling asleep due to the gentle, rhythmic motions applied ever so lightly to the skin. Give your system the boost and detox it needs and book today!

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy Massage is tailored especially for mothers-to-be! We combine Classic/Swedish Massage techniques with light passive stretching to relieve not just tension in your muscles, but pressure off of your joints too. Due to safety precautions, this treatment is performed with the client laying on their side and their upper body propped up slightly, at a diagonal position. A pillow is placed between the legs to prevent the knees knocking together and a pillow under the head and neck to rest. Once the first side of the body is massaged, we will help you turn to face the other side and finish the treatment on the other side. We can focus on specific areas of your choice, or perform a full body massage (please book at least 60 minutes if you would like a full-body treatment). This treatment is available for those who have passed their first trimester (after 12 weeks). We can only accept clients who have written consent from their GP and/or midwife.
